The Shark Steam Mop has a variety of accessories and features to explore to determine if it is the ideal cleaning tool for your home.  It is lightweight, and it maneuvers quite easily.  It does not take long to set up, and the components are easy to piece together. The parts include:

  • Quick Release Cord Wrap
  • Mop Handle
  • Water Tank Viewing Window
  • Water Tank Cap
  • Cord Clips
  • Telescopic Handle Latch
  • Power-On Blue Light
  • Rectangle Mop Head

Steam on Demand

Steam on Demand is a feature that allows you to customize how much steam you are using on a particular surface.  The more cleaning power you need, the more steam you can generate to get the job done. Since you can control the steam level, this also allows you to save on water.

This level of control furthers the eco-friendliness of this mop, and it ensures that surfaces dry as quickly as possible after you clean them. To customize your steaming level, use the  Push to Pump feature  until you are getting the amount of steam that you desire.

Swivel Steering

All homes have some odd angles that can be difficult to target with a traditional mop or those with rigid maneuverability.  The swivel steering allows you to easily get around any obstacle so that no area of your floor is left behind.  You can glide around furniture of all shapes and sizes.

There are no adjustments to make to utilize this feature. Just push the mop in the direction you need to go.

Steam Pockets

These pockets have a unique design, and they are double sided.  These pockets allow you to quickly pick up stubborn dirt without any extra physical effort while you are cleaning.  These are ideal when you are working on removing hard stains and similar messes that require a little extra cleaning power.

Water Capacity

This mop has a  large tank capacity at 450 milliliters. You will not have to stop to refill it while you are cleaning most rooms. This can save you valuable time and it ensures that you are getting your desired steam level at all time.

While the tank is large, when you are using the steam feature, there is no release of excess water, conserving how much you are using. You also do not have to worry about it releasing water when you are storing it in between cleaning sessions.

Sanitization

The steam gets to approximately  159 degrees Fahrenheit.  This feature makes it possible to  kill up to 99.9 percent of the germs  that are common in every household. This level of sanitization is for all of the surfaces you can use this mop on. The pressurized steam eliminates the need for any chemicals to provide effective cleaning.

As you sanitize, there is no residue left behind like with chemical cleaners. The water dries, and you have a clean floor.

Microfiber Pads

Microfiber is one of the best materials for cleaning because it is able to effectively capture germs and it does not use any excess water. It also makes it possible for the floors to dry faster, making your rooms available faster after you clean them.

This material locks onto dirt and picks it up off of your floors. It holds it in place so that you are not just pushing dirt around.

These pads wash easily following your cleaning sessions. Use a liquid detergent in your washer. Avoid bleach or fabric softeners. Dry them in the dryer on a low setting or a line. Trim any loose threads before using them again.

Filling Flask

Since you cannot remove the water tank,  the filling flask makes adding water easy.  Simply pour the water in and then keep an eye on it to monitor the level of water in the tank when you are cleaning. This flask also further prevents water from spilling during use or storage.

How to Use a Shark Steam Mop

The first step in using your steam mop is to  fill the tank with water and put the pad on the mop head.  The pads secure onto the tool with fasteners. Next, plug in the mop.

Before steaming, you have to  wait about 30 seconds,  but for the first use, it can take a little longer before the steaming to start. Prime the pump by using a downward motion to pump the handle.

As you are cleaning, the mop head can be flipped over to the other side.  If you need more water to finish the job, unplug the mop, refill the tank, and then return to cleaning.

Once you finish cleaning, unplug the device and give it  about three minutes for the unit to cool.  Pump the handle to release any leftover steam and remove the pad for cleaning.

What We Love

The head swivels, making it easier to get around furniture for effective cleaning. It moves in all directions, so there are no restrictions when you are cleaning. The  telescopic handle  makes it relatively easy to maneuver the mop around furniture. The handle is also adjustable.

This mop is  very lightweight at 4.9 pounds,  so it does not put undue stress on your body when you are using it. It is also very quiet, so you can clean when the kids are sleeping without waking them.

The water tank has a large capacity compared to similar models. This mop also has a  long cord that is 25 feet in length.  These features allow you to clean larger spaces without having to stop to move the cord or frequently refill the tank. The viewing window on the water tank shows you the level so that you know when to refill.

The  pads are reversible.  This element can give you a little extra mileage when cleaning a particularly dirty floor.

This mop is  eco-friendly and ideal  when you want to clean your home without the use of chemicals. It only uses water and you cannot add any chemicals to the tank. You can use it on multiple surfaces, including:

  • Tile
  • Marble
  • Sealed concrete
  • Ceramic
  • Vinyl
  • Sealed hardwood

The Shark Steam Mop is currently on our list of the top steam mops of 2021.

What We Don’t Love

It does not glide across the floor without a little elbow grease.

There are only two pads with it. You have to clean them between each use, so this may be inconvenient, especially when you use the mop often.

While this mop works for several surfaces, it is not ideal for grout.

Before using this mop ,you have to vacuum first. It is necessary to get up loose debris for the mop to clean most effectively. This is necessary for any regular steam mop that doesn’t have a vacuum included.

The Shark Steam Mop is a lightweight device that effectively cleans various types of floors. It is eco-friendly and requires no chemicals to remove and lift dirt. It can be used in a relatively large space thanks to the long cord and large capacity water tank.
