The Bissell PowerFresh Steam Mop is a simple and easy tool for cleaning your home.  The features and accessories allow you to customize your cleaning to fit the needs of your home. It comes with the following parts:

  • Strain Reliever Handle
  • Removable Water Tank
  • SmartSet Steam Control
  • Maneuverable Swivel
  • Quick Release Cord Wrap
  • Lower Cord Wrap
  • Edge-Cleaning Mop Head with a Low Profile
  • Removable Easy Scrubber
  • 23-Foot Power Cord

You can also opt to grab a few extra accessories to make the cleaning process even easier. These include:

  • Washable Microfiber Mop Pads
  • Fragrance Disks
  • Triangle Mop Pad Foot
This steam mop weighs just six pounds, and it holds 16 ounces of water. Use it on a variety of floors, including ceramic, granite, sealed hardwood, linoleum. and marble.

Use the swivel steering for efficient cleaning. Control the steam and choose the best pad for the job.

Assemble with Ease

For assembly, you only need a screwdriver, and your mop will be ready within minutes.  Snap the mop head and lower body together. Put the handle assembly into place. Insert the screw and turn it until it is secure. The mop is now ready for you to use.

SmartSet Steam Control

The indicator light on the mop tells you when the steam is ready for use.  This process takes about 30 seconds . Then, choose the level you need for the cleaning job you are about to tackle. You can choose between low, medium and high.

Removable Easy Scrubber

If you run into sticky messes, this scrubber can eliminate them. Just press it with your foot, and it locks onto the mop.  This scrubber is also ideal for gritty and rough surfaces, such as grout.  Use it to get into small crevices to get rid of germs and dirt.

Removable Water Tank

At the top of the mop sits the water tank. Since it is removable, there is no need to lift it up to the faucet. Just remove the tank and refill it as you clean. It is best to skip the tap water and use a demineralized or distilled water instead. Also,  do not add chemicals to the reservoir.  The water is enough for a comprehensive cleaning.

Microfiber Mop Pads

This steam mop has two different mop pads that are both a microfiber material. According to the University of Washington,  microfiber material can capture germs and microbes to ensure a cleaner floor, prevent cross-contamination and this material uses less water.  Less water also means less weight when it is wet, alleviating some physical stress.

The pads are reusable, so you can clean them in your washer and put them back to work. The pads are ideal for almost every hard floor surface. The white pad is gentler, making it perfect for laminate and sealed hardwood. The white and gray pad is suitable for messes that are tougher or floors with excessive soiling.

Triangle Mop Pad Foot

This is an optional attachment. It is easy to place onto the mop as it snaps into place. It allows you to get into tight corners easier.

Bissell PowerFresh Steam Mop vs. Shark Steam Mop

The Shark Steam Mop is another popular option, so it makes sense to compare it to the Bissell PowerFresh Steam Mop. Overall,  the products are similar regarding their features and optional accessories.  They both have a vast reservoir for water, a relatively long cord, and the floor head swivel.

Reservoir and Steam

The Shark holds about one more ounce of water in the reservoir compared to the Bissell. However,  the detachable tank with the Bissell makes it easier to refill  since you do not have to lug the entire mop up to a faucet to do it. The Shark’s tank is not removable. The Bissell allows for greater cleaning customization since you can control the steam output.

Floor Head

Both steam mops have microfiber pads.  The Shark’s are quilted,  but it takes a little more work to attach them to the device. The  Bissell has a scrubby pad  and a soft one. These also connect easier compared to the Shark.

Handling

The pivoting action that both provide is immensely helpful. The  Bissell has a cord that is about three inches longer than the Shark,  and its handle has a better ergonomic design. However, the Shark is about one pound lighter.

The Verdict

Ultimately, your preference is what matters most. However,  the Bissell appears to be easier to use overall and has greater ergonomic design.  It allows for enhanced efficiency with its longer cord, detachable water reservoir, controllable steam level, and the two different microfiber pads it has.

Warranty

one year warrantyThe Bissell PowerFresh Steam Mop has a  one-year warranty.  This is a standard warranty for similar products. This warranty is automatic and does not cost extra.  For the warranty, you should keep your sales receipt for purchase date proof.  There may be extended warranty options you can explore, depending on your preferences.

What We Love

sanitized and clean floorThis steam mop allows you to sanitize and clean up at the same time. Bissell states that this mop  can destroy 99.9 percent of the bacteria and germs  you would expect to find in the traditional American home. It is no secret that the floors in your home are a haven for nasty bugs. You track them in on your shoes.

A study published by Charles River Laboratories stated that they found more than 340 different bacteria throughout the home on various objects and surfaces.  Frequent cleaning is important, but you also need to sanitize,  and this steam mop allows you to do both at once to kill the bugs and create a safer and healthier home.

This mop stands upright when you are not using it, so it is easy to store.  It is ergonomic and lightweight, furthering its ease of use.  These features also make it easier on your body since you will not be lugging around heavy equipment while cleaning your home.

Only a screwdriver and a few minutes are necessary to assemble this steam mop. So, once you get it home, you can quickly get it together and start cleaning that day.

Never neglect those tight spaces below cabinetry and other household items again. This steam mop easily navigates and has a low profile, allowing you to clean in close areas without having to get down onto the floor.

Refill the water tank quickly, alleviating the time necessary to prepare for a cleaning session. The efficiency continues as you clean since you will not have to hold down a trigger while you mop.

This mop only uses water to clean, so it is eco-friendly. No chemicals are necessary to tackle messy floors or to sanitize them.

What We Don’t Love

While  the cord is only about two feet shorter than comparable products,  this can be an issue when you are cleaning a larger room. You may have to stop cleaning, unplug and then find another outlet closer to where you need to continue cleaning.

The steam is always on when the mop is on.  So, if you need to stop cleaning for a minute, you will have to physically turn it off and then power it back on before continuing.

During the sanitizing process, it is possible for streaks to appear on the floor. To reduce this issue, vacuuming and picking up loose debris before using the steam mop can be beneficial.

The Bissell PowerFresh Steam Mop allows you to customize your steam level, making it easier to tackle any cleaning job your home needs. The removable water tank, ability to stand up without you having to hold it and excellent maneuverability all make this mop one that ensures optimal cleaning efficiency.
